A long Time Coming
DREAM: I was in a van with children waiting for their mother. I was going to drive them all to some sporting event. The mother was taking a long time, so the kids ended up getting a ride from a teammate. I was ready to get out of the van when the woman surprised me and hopped into the back seat. The woman I saw was someone I love very much. I said, oh, okay, let’s go get the kids.
REFLECTION: I received a call recently from a very dear friend. My friend was sobbing because of a heavy sorrow one of her children is experiencing. Probably about 20 years ago, I had a dream about my friend and her family. Her children were sitting in their backyard at a toy picnic table. My friend looked out the window of her house to make sure they were okay. One of the children looked over the fence to my yard, where I was sitting at a regular size wooden picnic table with my children. The child’s eyes looked almost numb. I always felt like that dream meant something.
Theresa of Avila said that when our Lord told her something, it always came true, even if it took a very long time. Twenty years is a very long time, but that dream did, indeed, mean something. I had totally forgotten about that dream as so many years have passed since I had it. To my surprise, it flashed before me when my friend called me, heartbroken. I hope I am able to provide some type of support and encouragement through this time of distress. I love them very much.
