Personalized contentment

DREAM: I was tapped on the shoulder by someone behind me. I turned to see a man. He asked me to help him shop for a suit jacket--he wanted something silver. The store did not have any silver jackets, so I started to suggest a navy-blue blazer because that is a standard part of a man’s wardrobe. But I took a closer look at his clothing. His pants were a bit rumpled, but I saw that they had a very feint plaid and one of the lines in the paid was brown in color. I said, oh, you would want a camelhair blazer for sure. We went to the saleswoman. She said she did not carry his size, but she gave us the name of the place where she stocks her store from.
REFLECTION: I keep coming back to contentment. We need to be content where we are in life; meaning, that life should not be taking away our joy. We may look to another person’s life and think we see a silver lining and we want that silver lining, too (the silver suit jacket). But that silver lining would not work in our own lives. In fact, if you were in the other person’s life, you probably would not see your life as having a silver lining (there were no silver jackets). Our Lord has put us in a specific place, at a specific time, for a specific reason, that is the truth for all of us (standard navy-blue blazer). But if we closely examine ourselves and our relationship with our Lord, we will truly come to understand our true purpose in life (the camelhair was a better fit for his clothing). This is not necessarily an easy journey (his pants were rumpled). And, in fact, it takes perseverance to get to that place of lasting joy (the store did not have his size, so we were going to have to go get it at the supplier).
Develop your own individual relationship with our Lord. Talk to him, listen, and let him talk to you. He will help you find your own personal space in life, your own personal reason for existence. He will help you be content where you are and when you are. He will help you find joy no matter what rumples life brings you.
