Indivdiual Tastes

2nd DREAM: I was fixing a drink in a tall glass with lime juice. The person I was fixing the drink for didn’t like straight lime so wanted to add lemon to it. I looked down and saw a lemon wedge with the peel partially separated. I was going to squeeze the lemon juice into the lime juice but noticed that the lemon that was separated from the peel was chopped up. I put the chopped-up part of the lemon in the drink to make it more to the person’s liking.
REFLECTION: Our Lord understands and doesn’t mind that we have our particular tastes (adding lemon juice because the person doesn’t like straight lime. In fact, that is how he created us, no two persons exactly alike. It is not wrong to cater to our own “tastes,” and we should be mindful and respectful of other people’s “tastes,” as well. Understanding that we are talking about well-ordered tastes. And, of course, there is the other perspective. Our Lord treats us all individually. He may have a certain template that can be similar in approach, but he knows what is best for us individually, and what to “send our way” while journeying to him. Our lord allows the particular trials in our path of life that will best help us detach from the world and turn our hearts and trust toward him. The journey to living joyfully in God’s love in eternal life is not smooth, in fact, the journey is generally quite choppy (the lemon was chopped up). The key is that the trials our Lord allows are the trials that are best suited to each individual. If we each persevere in our particular trials, striving to love and trust him through it all, the journey will truly bring us to interior joy and peace, not just in everlasting life, but also in this world.
