01/15/2021DREAM: I was in a van with children waiting for their mother. I was going to drive them all to some sporting event. The mother was taking a long time, so the kids ended up getting a ride from a teammate. I was ready to get out of the van when the woman surprised me and hopped into the back seat. The woman I saw was someone I love very much. I said, oh, okay, let’s go get the kids.REFLECTION: I received a call yesterday from a very dear friend, Arlene. We used to be neighbors and I did daycare for her children from infancy to school age. Arlene was sobbing because she just found out that her son’s marriage broke up. Ward and Beth have been married for probably 10 years. Ward wants a family and Beth refuses to have children. I was inspired to write the attached note to Arlene.I just want to mention that many years ago, probably about 20 years ago, I had a dream about Arlene and her family. Ward and his sister Alexandra were sitting in their backyard at a toy picnic table. Arlene looked out the window of her house to make sure they were okay. I think Ward looked over the fence to my yard, where I was sitting at a regular size wooden picnic table with my children. If I remember correctly, his eyes seemed rather glazed over. I always felt like that dream meant something more than just our close friendship.Theresa of Avila said that when our Lord told her something, it always came true, even if it took a very long time. Twenty years is a very long time, but that dream did, indeed, mean something more than just our friendship. I had totally forgotten about that dream as so many years have passed since I had it. To my surprise, it flashed before me when Arlene called me yesterday, heartbroken. If I, and my little website, can give them encouragement and hope to draw toward our Lord (toward our picnic table), that is enough for me to consider my puny efforts on the website well rewarded.
